When I first saw these next generation brunnera selections from Walters Gardens, I was blown away by the size of the foliage…among other things. Brunnera ‘Jack of Diamonds’ is a Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’ on steroids. Each fuzzy silver leaf with prominent green veins can reach 9 – 10″ in length with overlapping leaf bases. In trials, Brunnera ‘Jack of Diamonds’ has also shown much improved resistance to summer leaf spot. In April (NC), the nearly 3′ wide clumps are topped with sprays of tiny sky blue flowers. Evenly moist soils with good drainage are best.
