ColocasiaCoal Miner have beautiful heart-shaped leaves that are primarily a dark purple/black, but have green stems, veins, and a thin border around the outside of the leaves
General Maintenance:Wipe down your colocasias leaves every so often to keep dust off and to maintain their rich, beautiful colours
Temperature:Colocasias like to keep warm, keep them inside tempurates between 16-28 degrees Celcius. Any colder and they will go dormant, too warm and they will burn
Light:Colocasia are sensitive to direct sunlight, and will burn. Keep them near a west facing window, or a few feet away from an east or south facing window. Too much light and their leaves will burn
Watering:Colocasia love high humidity, but can’t stand their soil soggy. They are prone to root rot, so water moderately when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. To increase humidity, keep a tray filled with clean water and pebbles underneath the pot. Don’t let the pot stand in water
Fertilizer:Fertilize once every 2-3 weeks with a diluted water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (April – August)
Soil:Well draining soil is a must for colocasia. A mixture that is organically rich will allow them to thrive. Keep the soil damp, but not soggy
