Also known as Andropogon gerardii ‘Dancing Wind,’ the thin, blue-green foliage transitions to a bold red for the fall and winter. While the foliage is lovely, the blooms add more texture. The flowers bloom from August through November.

Plant Wind Big Bluestem in full sun in dry, well-drained soil. Water new plants until acclimated, but established plants are drought tolerant. This grass is not a heavy feeder, but a light fertilizer application in the spring will encourage abundant growth.
Trim the growth to ground level in late winter or early spring before new growth appears.
