(aka: Draba lasiocarpa) Here in the draba-less heat and humidity of the Southeast US, we are always thrilled to find a draba that will survive, much less thrive. The Greek/Balkan native Draba athoa is one of those winners. This cute miniature member of the cabbage family makes a tiny 3″ tall, rock garden-sized bun of tiny, hairy green leaves. Starting in late winter (early March in NC), the buns are topped with tiny bright yellow flowers. When selecting a planting location, think, dry, dry, dry.
