Kniphofia ‘Backdraft’ is a 2018 introduction from the Walters Gardens breeding program designed to create more vigorous, sturdy red hot pokers that are winter hardy to Zone 5b/6a. The flowers of Kniphofia ‘Backdraft’, which emerge bright orange and age to yellow, are borne atop 3′ tall spikes. It is an early/midseason bloomer, starting in June (NC), and a good rebloomer.
