Kniphofia ‘Nose Job’ is an Ed Bowen introduction that started life as a cross of Kniphofia pauciflora x Kniphofia ‘Toffee Nosed’. I’ll admit we purchased this red hot poker for the name, but imagine our surprise when it turned out to also be an amazing garden plant. The pencil-thin, deeply-channeled leaves form a very upright 3′ tall clump. Kniphofia ‘Nose Job’ is the first red hot poker to flower for us in spring, starting in late April with 3.5′ tall stalks of narrow flowers…orange at the tip of the flower spike and white at the bottom. After being in the ground for one year, I counted over 125 flower stalks at one time. There is no other red hot poker on the market that compares to its floriferousness…pretty damn amazing.
