May Night Meadow Sage is a type of Salvia, and it makes an impressive impact on a landscape primarily due to the intense blue flowers. Tall branched stems are loaded with dainty blue blooms from June through mid-July. The flowers stand above dark green, textured foliage with an elliptical shape. The midrib is a lighter shade of green for additional color and dimension.

This is a tall, upright plant that is right at home near the middle or back of a bed or mass planting. Line a walkway or conceal a foundation wall with the tall flowering stems that will gently sway in a light breeze. Bees and other pollinators favor the striking blooms of this lovely plant that grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 8.

May Night Meadow Sage Care

Plant in full sun to help this beauty reach its full flowering potential. Soil should be rich and well-drained. Meadow Sage will need water weekly or when the top several inches of soil are dry. Fertilizing is not required, but feed the plant each spring to support new growth.

Remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming. Trim the greenery back in the late fall or early spring.

May Night Meadow Sage Spacing

May Night Meadow Sage is a mounded, upright perennial that will reach 15 to 18 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart to create a full planting.
