We have been amazed at how well Brent Horvath’s new Jacob’s ladder hybrid (Polemonium reptans x Polemonium yezoense) has fared in our hot humid climate. The deciduous 1′ wide clumps of Polemonium ‘Heaven Scent’ emerge in early spring with pinnate green foliage that starts out with a burgundy flush. The foliage is then topped from early April through early May (NC) with 18″ tall sprays of small, lightly-fragrant purple bells…very cute in the spring garden.
