This plant’s attractive large blue-green leaves have an equally pretty apple-green border. Hostas are primarily grown for their foliage but have attractive light purple bell-shaped flowers on 4-foot stems that tower above the foliage in midsummer. This perennial plant will die back to the ground in late fall after its leaves turn golden yellow. The large leaves are great for hiding the dying foliage of spring-flowering bulbs.
This extra-large hosta will grow up to 5 or 6 feet wide and 3 to 4 feet tall in a mounding form in USDA hardiness zones 3 to 9. Shadowland Wu-La-La Hosta takes about 5 years to reach maturity. Hostas can be dug up and divided to create more plants.
