Matures in 45 Days
This spinach has dark-green, deeply savoyed (crumpled) leaves which are tender and delicious. It resists bolting (forming seed stalks) longer than most spinach. Used fresh in tossed salad with other greens as well as steam-cooked to preserve flavor and vitamins.
SOWINGPlant seed outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Plant in rows 24 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch apart in the row. Cover seed withinch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until seeds start to grow. For a second crop plant in late summer or early fall.
THINNINGWhen plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin or transplant 6 to 8 inches apart in the row.
GERMINATIONGerminates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKSRich in vitamins. Avoid plantings that will mature in the heat of summer. For summer crops plant Swiss Chard or New Zealand Spinach.
