Tiny Ghost Lily (Lilium a. ‘Tiny Ghost’) is a Dwarf Asiatic Lily that is hardy in USDA zones 2 through 8. Growing 12-14 inches high and 10-12 inches across, this lily is perfect for borders and containers. Its classic, trumpet-shaped, midsummer blooms are deep reddish-purple.
The Tiny Ghost Lily’s large, starburst-shaped flowers face upward, and the leaves are a classic lance shape. This lily has a clumping, upright growth habit that looks great in rock gardens. Perfect for beginners, the Tiny Ghost Lily is low maintenance and has good deer resistance.
Tiny Ghost Lily Care
For best results, grow the Tiny Ghost Lily in a location that gets at least 4 to 6 hours of sun per day. Tiny Ghost Lilies prefer well-draining soil, but are adaptable to other soil types. Tiny Ghost grows best in moist soil, but will tolerate brief periods of dryness. Watering in the morning will allow the foliage to dry out during the day which cuts down on pest and disease problems.
Apply a slow-release fertilizer to the flower bed or container in the early spring. When this plant is in bloom, use a phosphorus-rich 5-10-10 fertilizer. Deadhead regularly during the growing season. Then, cut back the browned flower stalks in the late fall and lay a couple inches of mulch over the bulbs for winter.
